The owner's word

  • A solo Transquadra cannot be improvised!! This required a boat that had already proven itself on this race. It is with this conviction that at the Salon Nautique in Paris in 2008 I went to “Paprec-Recyclage” that had just won the first double-handed leg of the Transquadra and was about to embark on the second one in January 2009 (Transquadra indeed won by Stéphane Névé and Jean-Baptiste Lolliver). So it wasn’t a first hand but I took over from her return from Martinique and haven’t let go until today. Original preparation of “Tip-Top” was carried out by the Paprec-Recyclage team and optimized by my sons (race sailing professionals) surrounded by a nice list of exceptional sailors to prepare the boat and the man for the Transquadra 2011-2012. An exceptional edition of the Transquadra that year, where my goal was above all to arrive without hurting myself, nor damaging the boat and more than anything to enjoy. Goal achieved!! Carefree crossing (incredible surfs: boat speed record: 18 knots solo with the spinnaker, meeting with my fellow sailors in the middle of the Atlantic… that’s another story!). The contract was fulfilled: the boat arrived in the same perfect condition as she had departed even though I met a few though conditions. Return from Martinique on a cargo, the boat was then based in La Trinité sur Mer, and serviced by professionals to move on from solo sailing to sailing with a crew, another very nice period training with the SNT (IRC 2) and racing the “Spi-Ouest” the “Armen” etc… and then in summers a few weeks of family cruising on our coasts. What a pleasure to “stroll” with speed on a swift boat!!! In the past 5 years, the pleasure of double handed sailing and the difficulty to gather a regular crew of 8 persons has led us to prioritize the “Duo” as much for the SNT training as the Spi-Ouest, Armen or the Duo Cat-Amania. The results have sometimes been less good but there has always been as much pleasure to navigate on this boat!!! Personally, I’m very demanding and the boat has been serviced on a regular basis with seriousness and professionalism in order to guarantee a flawless functioning of the technical organs to allow for a serene navigation. This is true even for the past year when we haven’t been able to sail much. So why sell a boat that has given us so much pleasure?: Change of status (professional retirement) and hence a change of programme to go from racing to idleness with a boat more suited for strolling.
