The owner's word

• We bought Aldamar in 2009 when we moved to Brittany. Prior to that, we had often chartered sailing boats. Our plan was to sail coastal cruising, but we also dreamed of eventually going further afield. So we were looking for a seaworthy boat that was safe but not too big either, so that it would be easy for two people to manoeuvre. We gradually upgraded the equipment, with a triple focus on safety, autonomy and comfort: aft gantry, solar panels, gel batteries, computer and high-performance navigation software, ais, distress beacon, staysail furler, extra storage space, etc... We sailed all the way to the Canaries (where we stayed for 2 years), passing through Spain, Portugal and Madeira on the way out, and the Azores on the way back. During this trip, which was as much about tourism as it was about sailing, we realised that Aldamar perfectly met our expectations. Since our return, we've been quietly cruising along the coast of Brittany, but as time goes by, we need to think about other projects...
