The owner's word

  • After ten years of sailing between the Channel and the Mediterranean on a Dehler 39, I wished to buy a larger boat for a greater sailing program. The key points of this program were: - A fast boat, even with little wind (not unusual in summer…) – A fast boat even with the engine (often in summer…) – A safe boat in rough weather (under a thunderstorm the wind can be unpredictable…) – A boat that would be comfortable for a maximum of 6 people. – A boat easy to handle alone (to sail with friends that are not good at sailing but are good company). The Dehler 47 SQ corresponded to this program and as the boat yard allowed me to deal directly with the technical team for the adaptations that I wished for; I got what I wanted. On the basis of 10 months of work in Paris and 2 months of cruising around Europe from Helsinki to Istanbul, with different crews made up of friends that came along for a week or ten days, I completed the planned program, without a hitch. We never missed a date with a crew, we were never blocked because of a break-down or breakage… and we could always appreciate the sailing (even with little wind) in safe conditions (not one little scratch to declare). Today the boat is for sale as the program for the next ten years is different. Meanwhile I keep on sailing and doing all the maintenance on the boat as if I were to sail on her for the next ten years. The batteries were changed in 2017, the hull repainted in 2018, interior varnish and linings were refreshed in 2018… Thanks to this care (border maniac) the boat is ready to sail away with an owner that appreciates “beautiful boats” (which by the way revealed itself as being useful in the overcrowded marinas in the summer in Sandhamn to Korkula, from Ventotène to Istanbul….) and cruising.
