The owner's word

  • At the age of retirement I undertook a great tour of the Atlantic during 16 months, starting North; Iceland, Canada, United States, Caribbean, Yucatan and return via the Azores and Corsica with an Ovni 32. During a cruise in Norway I came across smaller trimarans and I replaced the Ovni by a Dragonfly 920 that I kept for 6 years.
But since then I dreamed of going North to the Spitzberg. To be able to realize this dream I needed a secure, fast and comfortable cruiser (the "Spitz" is far away). I wanted to keep a size of boat that is easily maneuvered with a reduced crew but also capable of hosting family and friends onboard. I was lucky to find this Hallberg Rassy 31 in great condition and ready to sail in the UK. Sale finalized in February 2010 and departure for the North in the beginning of May.
Since then I sail all year round in the Quiberon region and generally leave for 3 or 4 months in the beginning of May.
As I'm growing older I now aim at getting a smaller boat to cruise on the coats nearby.
